New Site

This has taken some getting done to be honest with you. I have learned quite a lot along the way though and it has been great fun! This new look site is my very first attempt to write my own WordPress theme from scratch right from the static image design in GIMP to a rough concept static HTML mock up and finally into the separate PHP, CSS and JavaScript files that go into a WordPress theme.

I have tried to give the landing page a magazine type layout, maximising information delivery to users while keeping down the clutter through use of Scroll Panes in jQuery and a nice little slide show I wrote myself also in jQuery. The site also makes use of the Thumb Nails for Excerpts plugin which I think is an excellent way of ensuring that all posts with images have a thumbnail to accompany the excerpts on a magazine style page for example. I plan to write a ‘how to’ or series of them to document my journey in theme design. I didn’t find it easy – there are some excellent tutorials out there though and I feel obliged to give something back by contributing a little, however small to the information out on the Web about how to write your own WordPress themes. For now though, I have to concentrate on getting my content on this site in order so it is more useful to people. This revamp of ThinkRunning is just the first phase of a few ideas I have for this website so stay tuned. Sign up for email alerts whenever I post new content.

I hope you enjoy reading the information contained here and if you find it useful or even better that it leads to you making positive changes to your running that will help you to run with a much greater reduced risk of injury then that makes me very happy indeed.

I do feel it important to stress though that I am not a medical expert nor am I an expert in bio-mechanics or sporting injuries. I am just an enthusiastic amateur who enjoys getting the most out of his running and helping others. Indeed, what I am about to say isĀ  a sad necessity in these increasingly litigious days. I cannot be held responsible for any loss of life, injury or personal harm otherwise incurred and suffered by anyone trying out the techniques described in this website. This is not to say that I think running is dangerous, far from it but I know running badly is dangerous and I have no idea if any techniques you try for yourself are actually being performed correctly. Furthermore, I make reference to many concepts that Dr. Nicolas Romanov uses in his Pose Method of Running. I do not lay claim to have discovered or invented any new concepts, indeed I have learned a lot from the Pose Running Method and thus I must publicly state that all references to Pose either directly or indirectly are meant in the spirit of giving full credit to Dr Romanov and his Pose Method of Running and in full acknowledgment of his rights to the Pose Method of Running.

Good Steve, I’m pleased you found it helpful. I hope many others do too. Take care and rest until the pain stops then have another crack at it being careful to land like I do. :-)
