New Look, New Cassette
New Look, New Cassette
I don’t have a massive amount to say today really. I am finding out just how much riding a bike a lot is likely to affect my running I think. Nevertheless as I am unable to run I must find an outlet and riding a bike is very pleasurable. I changed the rear gear setup (cassette) on my Bianchi tonight and took it for a spin. The weather was lovely and I decided to test it to see if I could still climb hills and go a little bit faster on the flats and slight down hills without maxing out. The Campag cassette worked perfectly and I am very pleased with it. At one point I managed 38.1mph.
I noticed that the nose of th eseat was pressing hard up into my groin the other day too and I don’t think that can be very good for you, plus I felt like I wasn’t able to deliver quite enough downforce to the pedals when sat down. I angled the nose of the seat down slightly and moved it forwards a couple of inches which made a huge difference to my comfort and ability to push nicely up hills whilst still in the saddle. I am learning something about cycling every day and it is very enjoyable. I also found a lovely bike shop in Matlock which is just as easy for me to get to especially from work so I am going to use this as my local bike shop (LBS) from now on. They are a very friendly and courteous lot. They are called Stanley FearnCycles , here is a map…
Oh, I changed the look of the site. I hope you like it. The header photo is me running a couple of years ago on a Christmas morning along Burbage Valley in Derbyshire – it’s my wife’s birthday so we always do that.
