CableTow on Tight Calves
The common reason for calves tightening – as Simbil says is the push and land ahead
The reason for this: there is still a misunderstanding in your perception of what needs to happen – It is to do with the reaction of your muscles to the application of bodyweight.
As you land in pose – your muscles tense and then release and you “bounce” up – at midstance.
The calf puller tends to still believe either subconsiously or consciously that they have to push their GCM back up so they push up using their calf this maintains the perception that BW is more than one on the ball of their foot longer and they cannot pull it from support.
Watch a good Pose runner and see they they boing up earlier in the gait cycle than a heel toe runner – who actually get most of their up from a calf push later on in the stance.
We call it un-weighting but by landing as close to Pose as possible you can get more ME boing and then regain GCM height earlier – this unweights the ball of foot earlier and allows you to get the support foot off the ground earlier so you can get to the next Pose in time to land – Tadahh! you are Pose running.
Just Pull the goddam foot off the ground the body does the rest.
Oh sorry has that been said before.”
